Not only is the Rice Family Reunion, Inc. all about family, but we are also about education and success. This year (2024), there are two scholarships.

  • The James C. Rice Scholarship honors family members graduating from high school and choosing to further their education. The first James C. Rice Scholarship was awarded in 1997, and since then, hundreds of scholarships have been awarded to Rice family high school graduates. 
  • The Clifford Lee Wooden Jr. “C-Woo” Scholarship honors those family members pursuing careers in Barbering, Cosmetology, Esthetician, Hair Styling, Massage Therapy, Tattooing, etc. Cliff Jr. departed this life at the 85th Rice Family Reunion in Charlotte, NC. To honor Cliff Jr., as he was a master in his craft of barbering and touched so many lives with his creative and trendy designs, the “C-Woo” Scholarship was created in 2019 to honor his legacy.  

Requirements for the James C. Rice Scholarship and the “C-Woo” Scholarship are as follows:

  • Member of the Rice Family
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A 500-Word Essay: What it Means to be a Member of the Rice Family
  • Copy of Acceptance Letter from institution.
  • Completed Application (postmarked and/or emailed by July 31st)
